Peachy Pace RC529…FINISHED Pg22

Ah... I think the previous owner of my frame must have had the same fetish.. I was wondering why both stays had tyre rub on the inside...

When I can, I'll refurb and rebuild this. Frame is just kicking about at work. It got spray lacquered in a hurry, outside, on a cold winter's day, so it's got some interesting rust patches after being handed around various hooligans, who rode it hard, + myself.
I want to do something interesting with the frame. Probably just a spray project tbh. I won't have time to go as far as this lovely project you're working on.

Blimey that is a mighty low bottom bracket - I thought my 'goodness-me-I-need-165-cranks-on-this' Ragley mmmBop was pretty extreme but you must be ground strike city on this. Gorgeous though....

Yeah 80mm BB drop. Pretty wild eh.
Absolute weapon though. Reckon it suits taller riders having such a low BB. Feel like you can stand up properly

That's a very interesting thought. I am 5-7 (170cm) so fit pretty standard small/medium frames and the current geometry suits me very well indeed. But ever since the 90s I have ridden with tall people who just can't get frames which fit in the same way - they are somehow wrong - just adding a few mm or cm to each tube just doesn't do it. A lot of 29ers come out quite tall, and in the bigger sizes that really pushes the riding height way up. This is making me think. Not least, the wattage tables show that tall people need relatively short cranks MORE than short people - counterintuitive, I know, but it's to do with the extent to which they have to move their mass - bigger longer legs benefit more from only describing small revolutions. So...upshot of might be lower BBs with shorter cranks on XXXXL frames....hmmm...I should discuss this with some designers...

Interestingly my bespoke 29er shocked me with the low/short seat tube but is perfectly proportioned for 6’3” 34 leg, as suggested above.

That’s very interesting THM - do you happen to know the BB drop on your frame? And what length cranks do you run?
And more, sorry...
Was it a struggle with the builder to get the geometry you wanted or was it a natural part of the measuring process which they used?

This is Quite Interesting...

And they have a contrary view re crank length - they advocate longer cranks for more power...not yet a resolved issue methinks...you can compensate for short cranks by changing gear (I run some 165s and some 170s and it does take a little getting used to, when you move to shorter cranks...) but you can’t lower a BB (well you can a bit, with shorter forks and smaller wheels but that’s not the point...)....

Cracking set of wheels and tyres for this over on Singletrack if you fancy going B+

These are exactly what I’ve got coming for my MkV but in silver, a sensible high quality wheelset 👍🏻

Good price… but I’m sorted now for everything except the forks. Delivery of which has now dropped back to mid October….
