Glad to hear the creaking wasn't a sign of anything critical ;) ..

Fortunately not...seems it was the rear dropouts creaking as it hasn't come back since!

Re:

....had some money for my "significant" birthday recently so I've just splurged on a new wheelset! Not yet arrived but will get some pics up on the bike when they do!

Good to hear it was only the rear wheel drop outs which is a bit of a weird one tbh and the new wheels look amazingly  by the way ;) ..

Re:

Easton wheels are they? I can't make em out? Or some sort of Mavic's? Look really smart either way. Wheels are next for an upgrade for me.

Re:

Right so its been a busy time in the Highballs world! After replacing most of the drive train, both front rings, cassette, chain and jockey wheels...ok all the drivetrain! The wheels arrived yesterday too! Got them all fitted tonight, and I have decided to go back to tubeless! I just thought I would give it another try! So I have put the Bonty mud X tyres away till next winter, as my local trails are drying up nicely.

I have decided to just use the XTR kit and sell on the XT stuff. It's been Bikediscount that has changed my mind! XTR jockey wheels 20 euros, £40 here. Or plain ol Shimano for 9, sintered brake pads for the XTR brakes (not actual XTR but Shimano) 10 euros a pair. XTR 28T front ring (the one that wears most for me in the gloop!) 14 euros (I bought 2!) The XT are 10 euros. The XTR ones retail for 19.99 over here! They delivered to me in 4 working days and charge a one hit £5.95 postage fee, so worth saving up for when you need a few bits. Their tyres are worth a look too (here I got the smokes for the Team Marin).

Anyway the new bits are all in place and ready for a ride tomorrow to celebrate my best mates and my 40th!

Doug
