tidying up black painted parts

+ 1 Satin black car paint.
If you have a greenhouse, I used to paint stuff in there (newspaper over the windows !).
Leave hanging in there for a few days bakes paint on beautifully.

Think you can get the Hammerite Direct To Rust in Gloss as well.

That stem I did was a blue Marin one originally, I began rubbing it down with sandpaper but got bored, so just did enough to give it a "key", washed it with soapy water, let it dry, then sprayed it, a few coats later and it was done :)
It's not too fussy about the surface you spray it onto.
 
oh, and if you paint something satin black, you can turn it into gloss black with some T-cut, some polish, and some elbow grease. :)
At least in my experiences.
