Yesterday’s PINKBIKE ‘remote seatpost‘ thread, after a new review, is quite acrimonious. I then posted this, which got no likes of disLikes. None. Unlike the top, confrontational post which has nearly 150 responses. Or maybe I am just not funny.

‘…..What no one has noticed is that there is a Deep State conspiracy to spilt the mountain bike community to prevent it from taking over the world.

First it was Lycra - or not. We argued that one within the community for years.
Then
Helmets - or not.
Then
Suspension - or not.
Then
26 - or not.
Then...

There’s a pattern here. Now remote droppers or not.

Now....when to grease and when not to grease square tamper cranks.

I had some machined machined Mavic cranks which were gorgeous. Also, every time I went for a ride the chain side crank came loose. Every time. And every time I tightened the bolt, the crank climbed higher and higher on the taper. And this explains why....

To grease or not to grease?

Should one grease the tapers of bottom bracket spindles before installing the cranks? Few topics spur as much controversy among bike mechanics as this question. In the old days, Campagnolo not only recommended mounting the cranks dry, they even suggested degreasing the tapers. The concern…
