For Sale Saracen Tufftrax MTB Early to Mid 1990s

Dunky007

Retro Newbie
I have a Saracen Tufftrax from the early to Mid 1990s I am looking to sell. It has been kept in a garage since 1998 time and hasn't been used or maintained. It was a well used bike in almost every day use but has sadly since been neglected. I have tried to show it at it's best in the photos. It has a number of after market stickers on it, mostly from MBUK and Max Power magazines - there is a rockshox one on the front forks, so please don't think it comes with rockshox.

It will need a good service before use.

Some features are:

21 speed
Gripshift gear changes (upgraded at time of purchase)
Shimano Altus A10 rear derailleur
Onza bar ends
Upgraded seat (original wore out)
Genuine Retro Cat Eye lights

I genuinely don't know what this is worth (if anything) so i'm sticking a price of around £150 on it, although i'm open to sensible offers. I'm located in Derby.

Any questions or anything, or if you want more pics please feel free to get in touch. Thanks!

Hi, a little heads up for you. These old Saracen frames are great! Most of the parts are not really desirable. The ritchey stem is decent and the wheels are ok. The ritchey tyres are very sought after and appear in good condition still. But you can't really tell if the sidewalls have dried out or not. So taking into consideration the tyres and tidy frame I think you will get your asking price.good Luck with the sale.
Is postage an option?

Thanks for the reply, i'm pleased that some parts of it are desirable and that there is a chance of selling it. I hadn't considered postage but having looked into it, it looks as though it would be quite costly. However if someone wanted to purchase it and was willing to cover the costs then I would definitely consider it.

Postage would be £26.99 with Paisley Freight and for addition cost they will include a box. Cheapest about at the moment and a very good service.

I've just had a look at Paisley Freight, £26.99 for just the postage, or £49.99 with all the packaging. If I was to post, i'd be looking at the £49.99 as I don't have a box or anything suitable.

It's much too big for me (or perhaps I'm just too small), so I'm not really interested. However I can give you some extra info.

The crankset and cantilever arms are Altus A10 as well. That groupset was introduced in 1993, and replaced by Alivio in 1994.
If those parts are original (I have no reason to suspect otherwise), that makes this a 1993 bike.

Anyway, free bump. ;)
Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the information :) the crankset and cantilever arms are all original so i'm happy to say it's a 1993 bike then.

Pop into a local Halfords or LBS and they usually have some spare boxes
