Removing BERTs...

wil someone please post a picture, I'm getting very confused!!! do I need bert?? is that why my hyperlites keep slippin...

BERTs are just metal bungs that you ram in each end of your bars if your not running bar ends. They stop the bars going oval when you knock em and also stop you Apple coring your grips

They won't help with your problem ^^

You've got that backwards, they are used when you ARE using bar ends to prevent the bar end clamp crushing the thin wall bars. Hence the name as previously mentioned - Bar End Reinforcement Thingies.
The ones I've seen for hyperlites have been plastic as well, not metal.

How about a variation on Elites suggestion - epoxy a bolt on to the bert, place bolt in vice and pull bert out, then cut bolt off and remove any remaining epoxy with knife?
