NOS FRM/Venturi Build

Here's where we are at. I have a weight weenie / race sorta build in mind, with all XTR, Ateks rims, carbon flat bar. And a cruiser configuration more or less pictured here, tooling around the outer banks. Probably gonna put my v brakes on when I get home, and am diligently searching for a 70x107 spindle in case I want to shift to the big ring someday :/ But it's coming together, and it's a glorious ride, super light ... Eager to weigh it soon as I put my hands on a scale

Finally got the parts for the rear wheel.

For the record, it looks like XTR cranks should work with that 111mm campy spindle

Almost done with the "Retrobike" version, which I hope to post up this weekend or next.

Long term, I'm probably gonna go the velo orange bar and stem, FRM v brakes, Sachs cranks, Brooks saddle, 1x. Move the XTR bits to the next project

Love the frame and fork, it's just a delightful ride

I like the lacquer-esque Italian colored paint scheme. Have you had time to weigh the completed bike? Which pedals did you use?

The ride is exquisite, very pleasantly surprised by the forks ... I'm using it as a road bike and it's light, responsive, smooth without being noodly and I'm a big dude (probably too big to take this rig off road in any kind of challenging terrain). Those are old XT pedals I brought back from the dead. I'll let y'all know when I weigh it

10.3 kg with the north road bars. Might could get it sub-10 kg with the carbon bars and the short seat post, but I'm kinda cheating by putting those panaracer paselas on there instead of proper mtn bike tires, so, there ya go. Or I could eat one fewer cupcake tomorrow morning, either way

Couple of Sunday rides thru coastal North Carolina. The British Cemetery honors some sailors who tangled with a German sub off the coast in WWII. British influence here goes way back; on the island they speak a dialect that might have been heard in 17th century England

Some new goodies for the bike
1. Centaur hubs, 135. Appear new, never mounted. Have mental image of the dudes wife, "Nobody is gonna give you $150 for those old things, you're NUTS"
2. FRM v brakes
3. Guess FRM was out of brake levers, and am having a hard time finding anything I'm really in love with. These Paul's were on sale at Blue Sky cycling. Pretty, and gloriously light.

So, still not all Italian. But more Italian. Getting there.
