I bought this Kona frame severals year ago here from RetroBike user rojo. When I saw it I felt the need to have it ;-)

As you might know, I'm somehow an Marzocchi 'special idiot', as I do only Marzocchi front suspension forks from the 90's (and this takes most of my free time).

I always had bikes in my life, but most of it have been moved in city. So this will be my first somehow rebuild.

Now it's time to ride it again. I need a bike for short trips around here - nothing wild - and for driving to sports places.

This was the thread where rojo sold the frame.

It will be not a original rebuild, I want a red stem and a red seatpost. Also I'd like to continue riding the older Maguras.
Instead of the original XC700 I want a red DH3 . The DH3 has some more travel (72mm) compared to the other XC's from the 90's, I hope it will lift the front a little bit.
Also a black steerer, black headset, black seatpost boldener.

Don't know about the rear damper. I have another Sintesi Verlicchi frame which has an older Marzocchi rear damper mounted (Marzocchi A0033). Need to test both.

Feel free to comment or suggest you ideas's pleace.

Re: KONA EFS / Sintesi Bromont (1992 - 1994?)

Update on brakes:

Found a nice brake set :)

I believe it is a Magura HS22 from 1996, limited 1.500 pieces (?). Not that cheap, but I liked it the first time I saw it. Would prefer the 20th Anniversary HS33 because of the adjustment knobs, but could not find one for sale.

I don't like the metal brake lines, but we will see.

20200628 : Little Update: I don't like this black brake boosters, but the red ones. I don't think they are available in red eloxal (I think I have seen some, but don't remember where), but I will certainly search for it.
From my optic the red ones from the HS33 Tomac edition fits perfect ;-)

Update on forks:

I also finished the rebuild of a red DH3 and awaiting the headset to be able to mount it onto the frame.

Love these frames, would love to find an original Kona version one day.

Re: KONA EFS / Sintesi Bromont Fully (1992 - 1994?)

Correction: My other Sintesi/Verlicchi frame (green swing) has a Fox Alps4 Rear Suspension Damper mounted. I think I will sell this frame.

Great Forks too. I used to love them in green

Me too ... ;-)

The first plan was to use the other Sintesi/Verlicchi frame with the green swing together with a green DH3.

Re: KONA EFS / Sintesi Bromont Fully (1992 - 1994?)

Update : I just mounted the parts I have in my boxes to have a look about the bike.

- Marzocchi DH3 red

- 1 1 /8" black headset, nothing super branded, but works.

- Magura MAGURA HS22 10th Anniversary (HS22?) - I don't like the Carbon Brake Booster (not shown) so I mounted a red one from my HS33 tomac. There are various brake boosters available in the net, but I like the small one with the holes - fits to the suspension fork. I'd like to have the Magua Evolution adapter in grey or silver, as the blacks ones are are to heavy (optical). Also I'm not a friend of the steel brake lines, but I may stay wirth it, if I find a way to integrate them into the frame (the main question is: can I mount the cables into the cable holder, e.g. open the brake line, fit it into the cable holder and close munt it again).

- red stem; I might need to have a higher one, don't know yet

- black handlebar : black steerer for me is o.k.Form and type of the steerer it a big question vor me, don't want to drive flat steerer and need somthing comfortabel ..

- spacers on the steerer are heavy (may be I change to something optival light: white or silver).

- suspension is working so far, I think a little bit soft, but I don't have experiences with it.

Waiting for the seat post, than I can ist on the bike and can adjust handlebar/stam/steerer height.

I think I will mount some Shimano parts from an older bike just to get this running and than think about optimations.
