Does that give you any cover outside the home, like if a bike is locked up outside a shop etc.? If so, do you need to use an approved lock or other security devices?

Yes Sir, it does.

Apart from my commuter I never leave them unattended in public. The commuter gets locked with a Sold Secure shackle and cable, inside the fence of the Firearms Unit compound. Anyone wishing to steal it would be well advised not to be a Brazillian electrician, shouting anything about infidels, or wearing a rucksck.

I saw 2 so19? in maccy d,s this morning buying their brekky, tooled up as well with what looked like glocks strapped to the leg holsters, badass. still drive around in bleedin people carriers though the fairys :D

I was driving through the quiet Gloucestershire countyside recently and saw an interesting stone arch entrance into one of the many estates in this part of the world. As I approached, I saw a Police officer, complete with old fashioned helmet, which I thought was a bit unusual and quite quaint; a peculiarity to this area of Gloucestershire perhaps? Then I spotted the holster complete with 9mm Glock and all was explained, must be one of the entrances into Gatcombe Park and obviouly the family were at home.

Household policies vary...I chose one recently that has no limit on the number of bikes or their value. They are insured away from home also but must be locked but by no specific lock type...I has to list the make, model, serial numbers, and value. But I too like chopper only use them really to go out and ride and don't leave them anywhere locked up...I have one "going to the shops" bike and lock that but my more expensive/rarer bikes don't leave my side out an about.

Could you tell me who you're with please as this sounds like just what I need as I don't even have a shopping bike but need cover for in excess of 10 bikes?

Thanks

I'll find out tonight when I get home as I have just moved house and redone my insurance, and can't remember the name of the company off the top of my head! But I think they were also one of the cheapest too.

previously posted my experience with cycle cover in house insurance on link below

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=237114

I got my policy to specify 2 bikes of up to £1,000 value each at no additional cost. it turned out that the specified value as "personal possessions" was only applicable if they were stolen from somewhere other than my property. As it turned out they were stolen from my shed and so covered on my contents insurance at the actual "new of old" value. I ended up with £950 cash for my stolen 91 cindercone and a Genesis Adventure 29er custom build as a replacement for my stolen inbred. The cover / service I got from my house insurance was superb. personally I wouldn't see the need for separate cycle cover - but maybe i got lucky. (I spent some of the £950 on some serious anchor points and gold standard locks!!)
