Does anyone have personal experience of a bicycle accident claim company?

I got rear ended by a car yesterday writing off my beautiful freshly rebuilt Raleigh Royal and giving me five fractured ribs which was not the best start to the day. The driver who I believe actually hit me in the ribs with her door mirror admitted responsibility to me, the witness in the following car and I believe in her statement to the police so hopefully that should be fairly straightforward but I do not have bicycle insurance and my home insurance does not have legal cover so I am considering contacting one of the claim companies that advertise specialising in bicycle accidents, does anyone have personal experience of one they would recommend or are they much the same?
Any advice appreciated.

I think you'll simply make a claim on the car driver's insurance.

Yes but there is how much is my personal injury worth, how much for not being mobile for several weeks, a bicycle is my primary form of transport, how much is the potential loss of a planned cycling holiday in a few weeks worth, I do not have the knowledge to answer those questions.

Im just going through all this myself. you can use a cycling accident no win no fee solicitor like wiggle legal etc. its a long old process as with all insurance things.

They will take a percentage of what you get from the other parties insurer.

You have to send them medical reports etc including physio etc
pictures of damage to you and your bike/clothing
get the bike and clothing looked at at a bike shop to get a damage quotation as evidence of cost to put it all right.
you will also go for a medical examination organised by the solicitor company to access your injurys. for this its a good idea to keep a daily pain diary asap of what herts and how bad the pain level is,what makes it worse and how its affecting your daily life and mood etc as the medical examiner will ask you how long it took for each injury to calm down/repair. also how long you were taking medications for, medical dates, pysio dates and records.
The examiner probably wont look at the pain diary but its just good for jogging your memory of what happened when once your due to go for a medical you can just look though it and write down a shorter version of pain timelenghts etc to give to them.

you will also may be offered physio by the drivers insurer which is also a good idea to take the offer on as its extra evidence.

also keep recipts for any medication you've payed for, fuel etc as you can claim for that too

all this evidance will be collected and evantually put forward to the drivers insurer allong with a value to settle the case.

if the bike is your main transport then you need to definatly claim for cost of taxis etc to get around.

hope this helps

Good information thank you, I have started a diary and the driver actually took my bike to the local bike shop who I use and they are doing a full report today but he has already told me the frame is broken.
I have photos of the complete rebuild I recently completed replacing all parts except the frame and forks which had some work done and was resprayed, I have just totally up the parts alone which included an Alfine 11 speed and a full set of Velo Orange plus some Nitto and a Brooks saddle and was surprised to find I had spent nearly £2,000 on it, not including frame work.

A Few years ago, I did a no win no fee against breckland council due to potholes in the road and got a healthy amount
Forgot to add, my gt which was only a few weeks old, had gained some scratches to forks, and frame, and my injuries were tissue damage and chipped bone which limited movement in elbows for a few weeks, cut to chin and bruises, had to go for checkups at a consultant of insurance companies choice, but nothing to major injury wise

If the insured, insurance company is a reputable one ,you shouldn't have any issues .
I got rear ended a couple of years ago. [no where a serious as your] I dealt with it my self.
As other forum members have said, record details, get quotes replacement costs ,time lost from work.
Consider any long term issues as a result of your RTC.

Wishing you well with your recovery
