Did it over about 2 weeks in 2005 (I think), roughly following the CTC route having pre-booked youth hostels.
I think we managed at least one beer every night (had to carry some for the YH in the village the lakes where there was no pub!) Took a bit of a detour in Scotland to go and see some puffins.
At the end, got the train from JOG to Inverness, and then flew from there to Luton.
Really glad we took out time.......
 
This is something I'd love to do in the future. Will take a few years to have the time and fitness I would think given I've only done 400 miles total since I've got back on a bike in July. Sounds like a great experience and a worthwhile goal.

I am 8 miles from Lands End,so is "Al".If you do it and need any local info get in touch,I have space for an overnight stay if needed.
I did it several years ago.
Went out to Lands End after work,Bristol,Lancaster,Glasgow,Inverness,it then took two days to get home by train.The hills stop once you get to Devon.jm.
