Kona identification

Incidentally NickD, I wonder if you're aware that AA is pronounced Ah! Ah!

In Hawaian it means hot rock, and I guess much of the language is phonetic, so Ah! Ah! is presumably what you say when you tread on a hot piece of lava flow.
 
That's weird, the Kona is my second mountainbike, and my first was a Townsend Hot Rock, so they share a name!

I have never noticed an E stamped anywhere, not even when I stripped the paint.

Incidently, when I stripped the yellow line repaint off, there were remenants of some dark red paint, I put it down to primer, but it could have been the original finish?

Also, it has Kona stamped into the rear dropouts, I don't know whether this is year specific or a standard?

Mine does. Either way it's a nice, reasonably strong frame. Have fun!
