Kona frame identification, again!!

Hi all,

Picked this bike up for a tenner. The bloke said he'd had it from new but couldn't remember when he bought it or what model it was. He had it professionally chrome plated at some point.

I can only see the one number (5) stamped on it. I've had a look through the catalogues I can find online/here but can't seem to find anything with the same integrated rear cantilever cable hanger.

I don't know if any of these came on it originally but it had deore LX drivetrain (RD M567, FD M565), grip shifts, sun rims AT18 wheels.

It's a 19" frame and looks like it might have been blue originally.

Any ideas? I've taken a few photos but ask if any more would help.

So there is a story to the bike. I had a lovely fleet of bikes stolen (6 bikes, plus 2 other family members bikes and my tools, spares, etc). A friend buys and sells old Kona bikes now and then after a tidy up. This one has all original papers but needed minor stuff: pedals, saddle, new brake...

When I initially looked at the 97 catalogue, I saw some V brakes and figured they'd changed over at that point, but after looking again, I reckon you've nailed it. Thank you.
