Koga Miyata Terrarunner Carbolite

In my ongoing search for nice, mid-ranged, preferably original and low-priced mtb's, I bought this Koga Miyata Terrarunner Carbolite (1991) this morning for a whopping €40,-

At first sight it seems in very nice condition with 1 nasty dent in the toptube and a missing metal bushing on which the CO2 cartridges are bolted onto.

Since it is so close to original, I want to know what tires were fitted back in those days; some worn-out panaracers are (still?) fitted now.

Same for the seat now; it has some early gel construction and a interesting but unreadable engraving pressed into it.

Crankarm caps are widely available, I presume?

I'm still not sure if this reply reaches you both, therefore a 'hekje'
@Elev12k
@Cheshire1980

Thanks both for your confirming answers.
I've scrubbed down the walls of the tires and clearly 'panaracer timbuk ii' emerged!
Also the seat, underneath is San Marco visible and with a bit of imagination, Falcon can be seen on the top.
I've drove it up and down yesterday and the gearshifting is still spot-on, as it the braking.
I'm falling in love with it and it stands out perfectly next to my Terraliner carbolite!!

Cheers

Yes Timbuk 2 tyres were around 89-91 era, sold a pair last year. The bike is definitely a keeper that, great find, especially what you paid for it. Plus a real bonus if mechanically riding well 😎

Just out of interest: how would you go about, indeed assuming you intend to, getting the top tube repaired?

@Markybeau

Hi Markybeau
Good of you to ask, since I haven't thought it over yet.
I think it will be a multi-step challenge:
First I will ask Pim van de Klundert of Sirocco bikes in Woensdrecht (the Netherlands) what can be done and if it's worth the effort.
I think I know the answer (way more expensive than what I paid for it, no structural limitations for what I'm planning to do with it and the bike's got soul in this state).
In that case I'll leave it and cover it with an actual band-aid! ;)
I have this Silhouette Studio Sticker printer at home on which I try to duplicate decals.
I've laid out what I think I need and I've included the band-aid.
Purists will shout out loud now, but I have to search within my limitations.

Dyna-Tech fan?
Have a look at my Marktplaats advert (I'll included the translated sales pitch here):

Raleigh Dyna-Tech Sentinel from '92, 56cm.

Complete Shimano 500LX (M500) group.

Legendary division of Raleigh with their most accessible model.

Virgin and untouched, factory spec'd but cornered like an old spinster.

Tires are obviously on,
a few blisters and superficial rust,
1 chip from the Vetta saddle,
detachable 3sp splitter on the left is missing, replacement is included
and a lot of caked-on dirt.

In other words, with a cleaning cloth and Dusty and a set of Allen keys, you can conjure up a classic.

The last picture doesn't (not!!) show me 😉

Retro Vintage Fixer Upper

Are they Miyata branded Panaracer tires? Koga had them around that time.

The dent isn't an issue for using it. Internally there is an aluminium tube btw. The frame is very overbuilt.
