This is my 1993 Koga-Miyata TrailRunner-Carbolite I collected earlier this week.

I already have a TrailRunner-Carbolite (since 1995), but this one is like how it was shown in the 1993 catalogue, except for tires. Examples like this I don't encounter often, so were happy to encounter this one and get my hands on it. It didn't came cheap, but try find another one.

1993 was a great year for the Koga-Miyata line-up. The specs suggest it sat near the top, but actually it sat somewehere halfway. Serving the market from 2000 up to 8000 guilders all Kogas were nice.

I do really like the multi tone blue paintscheme including the blue clear on the carbon tubing. With the black XT items is has a subdued classy overall look. Features like the bi-plane fork, Syncros items are a nice touch. It is all of great quality. No cost cutting.

The TrailRunner was available in 16.5", 18.5" and 20.5". This is size 18.5". The tall heattube and extemely slooping toptube is unique for 1993.

It is interesting how many people bought a top of the line Koga or Gazelle back in the day and never used it. Just kept it for years so us retro fans can marvel at a catalog fresh example 30 or 40 years later.

This bike is used to some extent, but it is still nice. The former owner told me he rode to Switzerland once for example. Bikes parked away three decades ago and that are not touched in the meantime do exist. Most fresh bike I ever got my hands on is a 1980 FullPro-L. In general older Kogas do tend to look pretty good. It has also something to do with the paint quality that is second to none.

I found a Koga Miyata Grantourer 10 years ago. Completely original. Paint was very good, indeed. Sadly I sold it. Regret it now.

Thx for the kind words

All catalogues from 1974 onwards are available through the koga.com website. Not present is the 1993 supplement that came with the catalogue. It includes component specifications, geometry chart and sizing and pricing information. Below the table with component specifications:

Hi , I'm relatively new on this blog and the question/comment is about not such a new bike.
For very litte money I became the proud owner of a '93 Trailrunner as seen above; definately in not as good condition as the one above and also not original ..... and that's where Elev12K comes in demand ;)
....looking for a front fork as an original replacement for the ugly rockshox dart2 it is mounted on now.

I do not know how to get the answer; is it repeatly lookig back on this side or can I be contacted via email? hverschuren@yahoo.com

And I like some thumbs up as well for the current state of my Terraliner Carbolite ... 👍
