How many different sets of scales do you have, it's freaking me out.*

*did anyone else notice or am I the only weirdo?

Looks to me like Tomianson only has one set of scales...

Unless you were talking to me?

It's you, you fiend!!

A build update, the Kestrel is starting to take shape.

Titanium Fat Bottom stem has arrived, the brakes and wheels are on, as are the bars, levers and shifters and seatpost and saddle.

From every angle this is a pretty bike. We'll see how the sub 20lb weight goes, im starting to think i might go for a more classical build depending on other projects, but for now, its featherlight. still a few bits to add though.

How would that work ? The fork is threaded

easy to fix that. Any good frame repairer can remove the threaded section and weald a new section. I had it done to a fork. And it's not that expensive

More to the point, why would you? I’m still not convinced that the ahead system brings any advantage over threaded.

Agree to point. But for this weight weenie build then 100% weight loss is at least 4oz+

Finished. !!!

I stepped away from the Sub 20lb aim when another project came along and my funds were diverted elsewhere, but I'm really pleased with the end product here. Such a pretty bike and the red is so vibrant. Can't wait to get out on it for a first spin, tomorrow hopefully.

Spec as follows:

Kestrel CSX frame with original steel fork.
Ritchey Logic Headset with Ritchey Cable Hanger

Fat Bottom Titanium stem
Kestrel Kevlar Handlebar
Suntour Xc Pro Brake levers
Suntour XC Pro thumb shifters

Syncros titanium Seatpost
Flite titanium Saddle (Repro)

Suntour XC Pro Microdrive Crankset with Suntour Crank Bolts.
Shimano Bottom bracket
Shimano XT Front Mech with endless band.
Suntour XC Pro Rear Mech
Crank Bros Egg Beater pedals (modern but what i like to use)

Suntour XC Pro hubs with grease guard
Specialized TXL21 Rims
Ritchey Zmax Megabite Tyres
Svelte Odyssey Skewers

Avid Tri Align Cantilever Brakes front and rear
Suntour XC pro cables and housing

Overall weight as it stands 22.4lb

Over time i might upgrade a few bits to get the weight down, the pedals, crank, wheels and skewers spring to mind as the first place to look for a bit of saving. And the brake levers.
