Re:

Also...went back and forth with Jones direct regards rear mech cabling and he confirmed the frame is a custom Jones One.

Very early frame he built himself pre-merlin etc apparently.

Helpful man indeed.

Re:

The advert for the frame:

Jones One titanium space frame for sale

This is a Jeff Jones built titanium space frame and truss fork from 2005. Not Merlin built and not Taiwan built.
Designed for 26” wheels and a 100mm suspension fork, however I have run it for the last 10 or so years with a rigid truss fork with either a 29×2.4 or 27.5×3 front wheel.
27.5×3 front wheel is perfect really for this bike.
Runs a 26×2.4 in the back.

Very good condition, no dents or scrapes, but obviously used, with some minor cable rub- was my main bike for most of the last 13 years.

A piece of history in some ways – there are very few 26” space frames out there – actually this may be the only one, maybe one other.

Basic geometry below. This was custom made for me but I designed it around the 18” Pace RC200 F8 I was riding at the time. I’m 5’10” so will readily fit someone 5’6” to 6′.
ETT 580mm
Head angle 69 deg ish with truss fork
Seat angle 72 deg
Seat tube c-t 350mm
Head tube length 150mm

Truss fork is 100mm spacing and designed for the older large size space frames so fits a 150mm head tube.

Re:

How are you getting on with this? It’s on my list to own one someday.

I like the build too. There are always personal preferences where I’d change something if it were mine, but it’s a bike that I’d love to ride even as it stands.

Bit late i suppose, but was thinking of flogging these off. I was also doing a gold build with all the Hope gold bits but I find the caliper mount can foul the floating rotor rivets so swopped them out for standard saw discs. The gold master cylinder covers are new.

Looks lovely all the same. Just I know how hard to find this stuff is, thought i'd offer :)

Look...I accept the cassette isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it is what it is.

Only kidding, well, kind of!

It’s a brilliant bike but TBH it’s a bit of a luxury.

But again aren’t pretty much all the bikes on here!

What I really mean is that considering the cost it doesn’t do anything extra special.

Luckily mine came in significantly under what a new build would be but I’ve got the 27+ Pine Mountain 1 from a couple of years ago that I’ve stuck trekking bars and racks on and it’s not dissimilar what I use them for or how much I enjoy them.

Obviously the Jones is sweeter, lighter, gets more looks etc.

And the build is much better across the board but on the flip side I’m scared of scratching it, denting it and worried about leaving it outside pubs!

I really glad I got one cheap and it’s definitely a keeper but at the price some seem to cost I’d question the value over many much cheaper bikes.

That said I’d be tempted to re-build it with a decent set of 100mm travel forks and wide bars.

Bet it’d be a fantastic hardtail!

Looks lovely al the same but wish i'd known sooner as i could have about fitted out your bike

I though, I could always use the hope purple instead. That goes well with a bright red frame doesnt it.

Doesn't it

Nice!

Wanted gold discs but gave up trying to find them!

I’m actually quite happy with brakes as is.

Like the custom reservoir caps and goodridge hoses.

Not sure if the levers might be ti too...?

Dig the gold though!

Those levers are definitely in keeping with the rest of the bike. Real belters there. Where'd you get them nosey bugger asks :D

Apologies - missed this!

Bought a Marin parts bike from eBay to accelerate this build and these were the brakes from that.

Also the stem, seatpost, clamp, shifter and rear mech.

That bike also had xtr wheels and Maverick sc32’s.

It cost £200 and I sold the stripped frame for £75!
