Here's my draft shopping list. Still not made my mind up whether to go ahead. Any comments welcome

New wheel. 70c spring into frame
8 Speed cassette, 11-32
New chain
RD Hanger thingy
RD=Shimano Alivio (34T max, capacity 43T)
Maybe Shimano Deore
Capacity required=33T
Ranges
1:33.7" - 98"
2:44" - 127"
Those ranges are slightly bonkers at the high end.
Step 2
46/36 double from Spa
New BB from Spa - double so maybe existing spindle OK? Otherwise remove fixed cup from BB (yikes!) and replace with sealed unit
Hopefully no FD needed - existing cyclone will be OK?
Capacity required=31T

1:30.4" - 88"
2:38" - 112"
