Fuel duty to rise from midnight 01/09/09

I need my car for work...

This sucks - 71+ p in the £ is tax...

Production is slowing and investment in oil fields is lacking. Market forces are not dictating this one...

It'll go up again soon when VAT goes back to 17.5% or whatever it's going to be

I've also noticed that Petrol is the same price as Diesel (excuse the swearing) is most places now, it used to be a lot cheaper as there is less tax on Petrol.... what happened there, did they sneal in extra tax?

I do even less, i'm an HGV driver so try and avoid driving anywhere when not working.

Also been very lucky with jobs, current place is four miles from home, last was two miles.

Tough times for the truckers ahead, I've been driving 20 years this year and never had an issue finding hgv jobs until now, I signed off the sick a few weeks ago after a year only to find the firm i worked for have gone bust and all the agency work has dried up, This fuel increase is only going to make it harder i fear.
