Have you seen the relive.cc app that allows you to fly through your strava rides?

would be pretty good to see a birds eye view of that ride.

Oddly enough I was thinking exactly the same only yesterday as I'd remembered seeing some visualisation of that kind, did a search and found it. But it looks like it will currently only give you the view of activities done after you've signed up.

I've had a chance to look into the flythrough videos a bit more now. It turns out that on Google Earth Pro (which is free) you can create these videos from the gpx file and export them as videos in different formats. You can choose the angle settings, playback speed, resolution and various other options. It's not the most intuitive process and it will take a long time making the video of a long ride like this (maybe with more computer power it would create it faster). Also with good quality and resolution the videos are massive - I've done the first 30 miles or so so far and the file is 2.2Gb). The results are pretty impressive though.
