What makes you think that Trek is from 1986? It looks slightly younger to me; do you mean 1996, perhaps?

Because in the documentation I did find only in that year this color scheme 'Antelope Slate metallic with red decals'. And because the frame numbers starts with a letter I indicating the 17.5 inch frame size as was common at that time.

sorry ... the gold bell is definately not an item available in 1986, as stated previously I believe the bicycle may be a child of the late 90's.... much later, maybe even noughties.

I have to agree - the headtube badge looks original and the time line places it as late 90’s
