If space wasn't an issue it would be different, and I did have 12 bikes so getting better.

Agreed. 4 of my bikes aren't actually bikes, they're framesets with extensive componentry.

I have one for work. One for dry conditions and one for muddy conditions. Then I don't have to change tires for the different conditions

On a serious note, whilst I have 2 bikes, I do have a decent stock of spares for them both to future proof them.

Downscaling but having spares is the right way ahead. Prices for parts is only going one way.

Yes of course, to future proof your two bikes, not to have enough should a couple of strays decide to take shelter in the shed

If (big if) I was to own one bike the gravel bike would be the one. (With a spare set of wheels for road)

This isn’t the site where I’d expect anyone to own one bike though.
