All going wrong - rear mech attachment Q

The part 2251 screws into the rear gear from the back/freewheel side of the dropout it the same on a lot of French rear gears this one is one of the Simplex LJ series.

Hmm, thanks for that. Does it not require the smaller unthreaded French hanger hole though?
 
Revisiting this thread, like the bloke at the co-op said, if you want to know the bike, build it from the ground up. My tension spring did not break on my Huret but working on it, it did "snap" off the little holders but I managed to get it back.

Isn't that one pulley wheel wild in that it does not have the notches, it's round like the sun, see:

So, I think I got the tension spring back in place but won't know for sure until I ride it, I'm building the bike up myself for a winter rider. Hopefully, it did not loosen up significantly.

See that round wheel? Kind of odd really but Huret really made an excellent rear derailleur/mech.

See the wheel on the right? And you see the tension spring sticking out? That's what I'm dealing with.
