You do realize you can turn the adverts off, right?
User Control Panel -> board preferences -> change "My Board style" to "Subsilver 2"
Personally, I prefer to keep them on and support the site (the ad revenue helps to pay for the server costs), but depending on how often you tend to use smaller screens, they may be annoying indeed.
