We came back from honeymoon on the Isle of Wight in 1970 on the hovercraft because we thought it would be a lot quicker than the ferry and my wife was not feeling to good.

It was quicker - much quicker - but a heck of a lot rougher and bumpier! She didn't look good getting on and looked 10 times worse getting off! Several of the passengers waiting to get on for the return trip saw her and looked extremely worried!
