Finally got this frame built up and rideable.. ended up taking off more of the paint as the pink was starting to annoy me. Mad Max kinda vibes but enjoyed the ride home last night. Stem cable guide needs some work but kinda works for now.

Waiting on some titanium flat bars and some black inner cable housing to wrap the exposed cables. Gonna also get rid of the slick on the front and fit the matching rear tyre soon, but can see myself enjoying the slicks in the summer when it's less wet out.

Anywyas, Bottom Bracket shell is truly fucked so will need to be sorted by Winston at some point as all the threadless bb's I have are the wrong taper for the cranks and these just about work

Normally I don’t like this patina style as it just makes the bike look bad in most cases.

I’m my case it’s either no patina or everything patina.

And you have done it perfectly

I love it😍🥰🤯🤩

Spent last night relacing the front wheel and when taking photos today I realised the rim is the wrong way round.. classic late night lack of concentration antics. Reused the spokes but they are plain gauge so will get some double butted before xmas and get it relaced when its quiet.

Sanded back the burnt or overly rusty sections of the frame and loved the bubble effect thats been left after burning out the seatpost. I'm quite keen to see if I can get this over more parts of the frame. I was also given some Black Slate patination spray and tested it out on the seat and top tube along with some of the fork which has def worked well. Has a bit more of a uniform feel.

Currently on the lookout for some carbon flat mtb bars of a similar vintage but in the meantime have some Bontrager Ti flat bars coming in the post. Hopefully get the cable stop and tube brazed onto the stem next week too. Also undecided on tyres, found some slicks in the spare tyre section but think they are too narrow..?
Don´t paint. That´s a great look.

Patina-tastico!!! 😍

Are you going to leave the paint as is? I remember earlier in the thread you mentioned giving it a respray.

Personally I would have left the paint as is on page 3 with the Roberts logo's intact, but it's not my frame/bike! 😜 Do you not like the pink paint? For me, the colour is one of the many lovely things about this frameset.

Love the fact that Winston who originally helped build this frame has done the torch work in the removal of the seatpost and BB area.

Flat bars and a front skinwall knobbly will be a great addition. Keep up the great work! 💪👋

can see a BOTM patina edition coming soon...... 👍

nice work....I would have left the Roberts stickers as they were so beautifully worn, but this is now truly a rat-rod frame.....the bubbling effect from heating is really interesting.

Do not paint the Roberts Crust Spider. All the cool kids want rattiness now, you don't want the kids on the streets to chuck used chain links at you. Do you?
