1937 SCHWINN EXCELSIOR X - NICKEL PLATED - GARY FISHER CLONE

Re: 1937 SCHWINN EXCELSIOR X - NICKEL PLATED - GARY FISHER C

Nice bike and excellent attention to detail. The thread is also a great reference for anybody wanting to do the same in the future, well done.

Thanks Guys for all the positive feedback!

Making good progress with the bike..

Got the correct crank (26,36,46 TA) and the correct arms (180mm). I mocked it up but I must still have the arms polished and re-anodized a Smokey Grey...Soon!

You will also note the correct MKS-1 pedals..(NOS) Still working up the nerve to remove the riveted on reflectors!

what a great story! Good thing you decided to build the bike anyway, even after finding out it wasn't the bike you thought it was. Mainly because it results in such a great build thread of course ;)

Small update.. finally got the nerve to remove the reflectors on the NOS MKS BM-1 pedals..small screwdriver and hammer did the trick!..Thx Alan for the Tip!

Next step is to get the crank arms polished and anodized...Should look like below but without the pedal rub!

Re: 1937 SCHWINN EXCELSIOR X - NICKEL PLATED - GARY FISHER C

-Still need to:

-Build both wheels with my exceltoo and union hubs...waiting on rims!
-Replace current 170 TA arms with my 180s once they are back from being grey-anodized
-Find the elusive cinelli milano headset spacer!
-Wire it up..not sure if I will use duct tape and mix matched tie wraps however..

I think that is it?
