my rebuilt GT Zaskar with VECTOR II's

Here's my latest project - been building it up over the last few months

bike had not been ridden for about 3 years, so stripped down to frame and full repolish - girvins rebuilt with new ODS and speedspring conversion. hardest part was sourcing NOS sticker kit

spec as follows :

94 - 95 GT zaskar frame (US built version)
GIRVIN VECTOR II forks with speedspring conversion
Full deore LX groupset from about 1985 (was on my DYNA-TECH solaris)
ONZA HO pedals with titanium spindles
ODESSEY Q/R's with titanium shafts
CONTROL TECH seatpost and bars
FLITE titanium railed saddle
MAVIC M232 rims
all bolts in aluminium or titanium

only modern update is set of XTR v-brakes

very clean - is the frame lacquered or left raw?

this was before the Zaskar turned into the entry level model :eek:
 
zaskar rebuild

the frame was left unlaquered as I was worried about 'yellowing' or peeling of a laquer coat.

the frame and fork legs were first polished with 'autosol' then cleaned - after that a final polish with 'duraglit wadding' gave a brilliant finish.

to protect the raw surface it then had a coat of 'meguires' polish (normally used on my motorbike and car)

NOS sticker kit was sourced from the states via ebay, also got a bushing kit for the VECTOR II's.
