Just a little update, I'm looking at my touch ups with humbrol with disapointment - I guess it was worth a try, but there are some fairly large areas the frame where the paint is utterly mullered, I've realised it's never going be to my satisfaction.
So, I'm now looking at repainting options, I've already got replica decals in from Gil, who has been brillant, and very patient with my demands to replicate the originals as closely as possible. Watch this space..

I was planning on using Bob Jackson for mine, a few folk had recommended them for Orange resprays. When I contacted them a while back they said they'd done plenty of the classic orange/white fades. I'll need to get in touch with Gil about a set of those decals to get my project moving again.

Interesting that both frames are I recon within a year of each other, recon Dynacol's is younger based on the decals - frame made late 89. I'd guess mine is a tad later as the decals are getting closer to those put on the 91-92 bikes.
I'm still mystified by my apparant lack of serial number on the frame though - I even sanded down what looks like orinal paint on the underside of the BB.. nada, just smooth metal :? I have the exact same date stamp on the fork...

Meantime the cockpit is coming together nicely with the bars that were on my clockwork (now replaced with purple renthal sub 130s) and the very tatty stem repainted rattlecan black with new decals applied.

Sounds good fella, my Prestige (a later 93) will be off to the painters soon for the same iconic finish.
Who did you use if I may ask, Argos aren't too far from me but they are not cheap. Awaiting the pics.

I used Vernon Barker Cycles in Dronfield, local to me and have done a few frames for me in the past. It cost more than double the buy cost of the bike but a they shotblast, re-prime, stove re-enameled in two colours with a fade, and took care application of decals and clear coats over - quite a chunk of labour. Worth it I think.

Great to see another Prestige saved. Also good that a serial number was found, must of been really embedded the number in the BB :facepalm:! It all looks nice and fresh, with a repainted Stalk stem also. Bet you cant wait to get it built up and finished
