The first one I built was built just like that one but I think the "correct" way was to twist the spokes. We finally got a wheel in that was built correctly but I never went back and changed the one I built. Not sure how durable it would be without the twisting pattern? I think the twisted spokes stiffened up the wheel quite a bit.
