hi all i have a 94 (i think ) cannondale beast of the east.
now i was going to polish this frame to a bling up job but have been polishing this morning and found that who ever stripped the paint off this last time used a grinder by the looks of the head tube (actually thats me exagerating its prob a dremel or something like that as i couldnt see it under the laquer). so its going to have to be painted or powder coated.
my question is what colors was this originally available in?
this one was blue and all the others i have seen are red.
think maybe this one will have to be white

cheers rob
ps anyone know how to get a age from a c-dale serial number?

If it IS 1994 then either Viper Red or Wild Orchid Metallic

Go to http://www.vintagecannondale.com/ and find out the true age :D

My Orchid frame was striped by me shortly before I sold it, and the frame had grinder marks and layer after layer of high-build primer on it. Your grinder marks aren't out of the ordinary, so maybe you could just sand them off by hand with varying corseness sandpaper and see where it leads?

why do you suddenly not like it just because of a number? you liked it this morning and its still the same bike?? :?

to utahdog i dont really want to sand it as even 4000 grit wet and dry will still be taking material away from 16 year old alloy tubes and i dont want to risk the frame strength.

its a large 18 inch seat tube (being a beast this means nowt)
with a 22inch top tube
if interested pm me ;)
but i wont be giving it away

the age makes no difference what so ever
the fact i cant make it a mirror finish like i wanted does :?
still maybe i should sell this and have your black frame ;)
