Zolatone Marin owners - opinions required.

It's Nepalese isn't it...?

Anyway, those Zolatone samples look pretty good to me.

I reckon the PFX-01006:

looks pretty much like the 1991 onwards darker shade of zolatone grey as seen on this lovely 91 Pine Mountain:
( The use of flash photography will make the grey look slightly lighter than it really is in this photo )

The PFX-01005 (left) or maybe PFX-01004 (right):

look likely candidates for the earlier and lighter grey used on this 1990 Pine Mountain for example:

It's important to remember that over the years the zolatone paint on many of the old Marins will have faded and lightened slightly with exposure to UV. So don't go too light with your choice.

My monitor could be way off by the way, so perhaps it would be a good idea to request some samples to compare with your bike.

Just seen these two at the bottom of the chart.

PFX-01064 and PFX-01065

Also look to have potential.

Ive just asked for samples but haven't heard back yet, I guess they're in bed at the moment, being all trans atlantic.

Trouble is, if I get the sample cards ill then need sample bikes to compare them to. Might be worth meeting up with owners when I get the samples.

I thought this stuff was textured - could well be wrong though.

How would you suggest making it textured? I haven't got a clue.

I'd say six is closest to the 1991 bikes, although maybe not quite dark enough. Not sure about 1990 ones. Will this paint have that slight none-stick frying pan sheen as well?
