The top tube ding isnt pretty, but it wont get worse, the frame is safe.

IMO I would keep the decals and original spray job, nice to see the bike saw some dirt, just wax it up and change the cables.

The bike might of even raced the national series BITD, so the scars have stories to tell

I used to race expert category in the early 90's and would pay a few quid to get my Fisher paragon back regardless of its condition, just for the mammeries!

As the second highest bidder in this auction I feel very fortunate not to have won

My bid was way too high in the first place so I would have been devastated to receive this knackered mess for over £1000. Apologies for bumping the price dazzawazza!

The least I would have expected was a sound frame, but now I would be facing a repair and repaint i.e. leaving me in the same position before I sold my dented Zinn frameset to Giom6 for £100 + postage.

Hopefully you can receive a substantial partial refund or full refund.

It was definitely worth the £100 and definitely worth the time and ed effort I put into it to sort it out. Without any doubt.

As third highest bidder I would be annoyed with the dent but it wouldn't spoil the bike for me. As mentioned before it might tell its own story...

Don't sweat it. Paypal claim goods not as described - easy case.


You don't want Paypal on your case it can get nasty - read the small print, they can talk to your bank.. Not that I've been in that situation!

If I was in this situation, I'd be asking for more than the costs of the repair.
Ask yourself this...would you have paid £800 if it was advertised as a damaged frame/forks only, as that's pretty much what it looks like you're gaining from this deal.
Blatant fraud by the seller imo

No word from the seller yet. How long should I wait before raising an Ebay dispute?
I know my preferred option with this, but won’t say before a resolution with the seller.

BTW the frame number is 292341.
There’s some chain damage under the bottom bracket so the last digit might not be a 1.

No of course you wouldnt pay £800 for the frame fork and stem, but then thats not what was bought.

And Whilst the Campag is NOT NOS, i fail to see why it isnt able to be cleaned and polished, and to be frank a fully serviceable Groupset.

I appreciate it looks tired, but then it will do given its age. As for being worn out.... :facepalm: those chain rings look good to me.

Taken on Board the cost of Campagnolo Record OR components of late, i think its bloody good value if you could get the seller back to £800.

The seat post alone is sought after, and could make up to £50.00
