Means cost about £300 with repairs, respray, application of decals, lacquer and shipping. They also fitted the headset and BB for that. For what's its worth, the workmanship, as you could expect is exceptional.

If you can get that amount back, or near enough, then, as Sinnerman said you will end up with an absolute stunner of a bike, especially if you are swapping out the old components.

Once it's sorted out I can guarantee it'll be worth the hassle

That dent looks more the a couple of mm deep at the centre... Filler shrinks over time and if too thick it will crack, and that's on car bodies that aren't under load. Still preferable to drilling/pulling or having the frame ripped apart.

The 92 Zinn catalog still shows a bunch older pre-92 Campag and colour options of Red or Grey, plus low-volume manufacturers don't buy huge stocks of parts on release, they used what's on the shelf first. Hence my "educated" guess of nearer 93 model year. Always happy to be proven wrong when it's backed up by fact rather than insults :roll:

I think its worth double that, with a strip, clean service and polish, that bike will be like brand new.

Low-volume manufacturers could probably spray a frame any colour they liked too no?

If DazaWazza shares the frame number, we can probably figure out the year of manufacture, rather than guessing.

And to be fair mate, the Zinn catalogue you are looking at is actually mine so im pretty sure im aware of the content before i make a post.

Back up with facts......mmmm, pretty sure ive done that too with the above Campagnolo Period catalogue shown above next to the components shown on the bike, and showing the year on the cover., but i guess due to the fact the 92 model year catalogue is missing from the archives here, you wouldnt have known the facts when you made your best guess.

but of course regardless of when the components were brought to market, surely the frame number is all that is required to pinpoint the " FRAMES" model year.

It seems you have a few options chap

accept this will always have spoilt the experience and go for a full return and wait till the next one pops up

or..ask for a partial refund to rectify the undisclosed damage and return the "feel the love" feeling you were hoping for

personally if the seller plays straight and refunds enough to correct the issue I would go with that but then it's not my bike or expectation

What's this "Car body filler" crap? A bit of brass solder and you'll never know it's there.
Ask for a full or partial refund; £3-400 should do it, and the sller should realise he is now unlikely to get anywhere near that selling price again, given the coverage this frame has had, and undoubtedly will again if he ever decides to sell without describing it accurately...

Don't let it bother you too much chap. It was never going to be as mint as the last one that sold - bad form on the seller's part not to mention the dent though so see if you can get a few hundred back for it - if you do its a bonus if you don't then what the hell you still have a Zinn 753

If it was mine and the paint work cleaned up OK I'd probably leave it as is - it has a battle scar - so what - with your NOS campy bits it'll be a properly nice bike. I had a 531 Zinn in this colour for a short while, I think it was powder coated so if yours is too then it may be harder to get a polished finish back.

If you want/need to do it then the repair is easy get it filled it with a low temp braze by a proper craftsman - Yates/Roberts/Kevin Winter and have a nice paint job done, new set of decals made up.

You have a rare and very cool bike there - it's going to be with you for many years so don't let it go! (or if you do let me know first )
