It's not about rarity, although that aspect alone stops me from bidding on a bike like the Zinn, it is about quality.
A Reynolds tubeset does not by itself make a fine bike, and given that the Dawes or Claud Butler will have been made in Taiwan, you are not really comparing eggs with eggs.
However, I do agree, that the desire to own a bike like a Zinn can do strange things to peoples rationality... especially RB members.
