Zinn from ebay with issue's, but hey, still sweet!

As an aside, an equally rare Claud Butler or Dawes with almost identical 653 tubeset wouldn't attract a tenth of the hype or price...

It's not about rarity, although that aspect alone stops me from bidding on a bike like the Zinn, it is about quality.

A Reynolds tubeset does not by itself make a fine bike, and given that the Dawes or Claud Butler will have been made in Taiwan, you are not really comparing eggs with eggs.

However, I do agree, that the desire to own a bike like a Zinn can do strange things to peoples rationality... especially RB members.

I made no comments on the merits of the bike itself but I still got a multi-post lecture that proved my point

As others have stated, eBay prices are about how bad people want something and little to do with actual "value". Clearly for some it's a c*ck-measuring contest and all about how much you spend... and then it's not enough to have something nice, they've got to pimp it around the site like Max Clifford on crack

BTW I'm not trying to dampen things down to bid myself, anything this popular is a major turn-off to me, not to mention it's massively too small.

Did you.................PMSL.

I thought you you made yourself sound like a plonker myself. You clearly havent a clue based on the ridiculous comment you posted.

Reinforced by this post.

I would love for you to compare a Claud Butler or a Dawes with Reynolds 653, to a Zinn with the higher grade Reynolds 753 ATB tubeset.......

Cock Measuring............................LOL............REALLY.

I did find the Max Clfford on Crack comment hilarious though, i laughed so hard i spat my coffee out.....

Keep up the good work fella.... 8)

And I very rarely use emoticons...

PIMP MY RIDE BABY......lol. there should be Sticky....pmsl.

Dude if you pimped a few more of yours, perhaps we could see your hard work and call it SHARING.

Crazy talk - that would involve me actually assembling some...!

I might get this Zinn instead, just to have a bike pre-built for me - then get busy pimping on as many threads as possible...

If you're taller than 5'7", please don't bid on this bike!
I want it!! lol

Also, the Campag components all look worn out so splitting probably isn't worth it!

You could mate, but it would still involve work, effort, time making a site contibution. YOU KNOW, stripping, cleaning. servicing, polishing, replacing broken and worn parts.....

OR are you a shed tinkering wannabe that would just buy it and jump straight on it, doing the minimum and Expecting the World to come to you.....?.... And then plie it in the shed against all your other unfinished GEMS........

And as for CRAZY TALK......stop talking a good line and put your hand in your pocket.

Crikey, next you'll be telling me not to take things 'personally' or something...

All I do is strip and clean and [cough: 'not' build] - hence why I have no complete bikes.

As to buying it and 'jumping straight on it' - if you ask anyone on here who has met me off the the site, they will be the first to confirm I don't actually ride...

However, the thing that amuses me most is your obsession with these 'GEMS' I'm supposed to have...? I've never mentioned any, I can't recall others having done so, so what do you know that I don't ?!

Not at all mate, i couldnt careless, in fact i find your sarcasam amusing....

As for your bikes, (im unsure i would call an obsession.....PMSL..) a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away you realed off a list of your frames to me via PM, and in truth i havnt a clue now, but you did spark my interest at the time.

It matters not, the most recent frame/bike that springs to mind is your Smart Tart. But hey Just because i consider it a hidden GEM doesnt mean that you do..!

Say la Vie.

Couple of points, my butler was hand made in Brigg which last time I checked was in Lincolnshire not Taiwan.
653 was a combo tube set that used 753 stays and 531 main tubes to try and get a best of both worlds tubeset, not a million miles from 753 as about 50% of it was 753.
