Zaskar Questions..

Sure I'm wrong on this, but all the Zaskars I've seen to date (in original finish) were annodized or natural. So I'm guessing that would imply it's been painted at some point (hence the weird decals). Maybe? Got any cripser pictures, btw?

..and its definitely resprayed. Not a bad job but there are flecks of paint inside some of the threads.

Found the 6061 stamp on the other dropout, its got a replaceable mech hanger, and the seatpost is 26.4mm. Does that help with a year since the serial is long gone?

6061 stamping means in this case yes, definate zaskar. the serial would help you establish exactly which year it is, but its more than likely exactly the same as radoslow's.

the ink blue finish was a paint finish, not anodized. looking at that dropout of yours, it does look to be the original finish to me..

My Zaskar is definetly anodized.

26.4 - very odd size for GT. Zaskars usually have 27.0 or either 27.2 depend on year. Mine has 27.2

Even steel GT's have seatpost diameter at 26.8

That blue is identical to my old 1998 and that was painted. Weird seatpin size - echo the above. 27 or 27.2 usually

there's every chance the post is just too small - i've not actually measured the diameter of the tube yet!

so the paintjob might be original after all, but the decals are not?

thanks for all the information by the way! :D

My old 1998 - paint was thick on this too
