Zaskar LE - '93 Edition - Build thread

Ideally would like to keep the parts at no more than a couple of years newer from frame build date.

With an August 1993 build date, a '95/'96 shock I can live with.

Spent the whole night thinking the bike....

Part of me this morning is of the mindset to rob my Hammer Race for parts to build it up so I can get riding time on it.

Still seriously considering the yellow power coating for the frame (attached images for example). My concerns are - I'll need to face the BB and headtube (not that big huge deal, moreso can I locate a local shop with the tools required). Will the serial number and frame size stamping be lost due to the thickness of said power coating? Will I need to ream the seat tube to clean it up? Anyone have exeperince with powercoating a AL frame and wanna chim in?

Forks - Thinking Rock Shox - I should be able to locate some Mag 21's and I can do a rebuild on them.

I had this British Eagle frame powdercoated:

If the powdercoater knows what they are doing none of those should be an issue. Properly masked and applied, no need to face the BB or headtube after, or ream the seat tube - although the place who did my powdercoat are an engineering services so since the seat tube wasn't perfect anyway I got them to ream it out to a more common size at the same time.

No worries about the heat-treating either. Straight from the expert:

Don’t powder coat it. Frame deserves better.

Polish it up properly and add correct decals. Then a mag 21 SL Ti and a m900 group and you have a pearl
