if a bit heavily sprayed and over lacquered for a Fat Chance

Yeah, totally agree with that.. My resprayed SAB's paint is a little (I think) too thick.. Respray totally shows at the BB/ST/DT junction..

If it is an original its surely worth more than £650... ? Purportedly one of only 5 made. Imo the seller has handled things high handedly and has prolly lost the respect and interest of most genuine interested buyers. It's bizarre he refuses to state its original in the listing but does so in private. If it's a quality re spray its still worth good money IMO.

It's not really that bizarre - if he writes it down then it's false advertising and the buyer would be able to get PayPal/eBay to refund easily when they discover it's a resprayed bike. If he tells people that it private then it's still bullshit but no one has any comeback.

If it's original then why are the BB threads media blasted and not clean and freshly cut?

I was being polite using the term bizarre  I'd still argue that any buyer should be able to claim a refund if he has stated publicly or privately its original and its later proven not to be so. A buyer could use the Fatcogs thread as evidence with Daniel's consent. He's stating a material fact by doing so.

Good spot re the BB. The seller is a fool. All he had to say is its original or its a repaint to a very high standard. He would still have sold it for a grand I reckon.

I get you!

I think this auction is proof that you can't assume anything. If it's not written down in black and white -'this is a NOS frame', 'no one has ever build this frame up', 'this bike has been stored since new' then no one should draw that inference.

To be honest, the auction stinks.

He uses purposefully misleading text: 'I picked this frame up some years back and have had it safely stored away' or 'the Frame is...a 1994 model year and I have never built it up' with the intention that people will think it's a NOS frame.

Likewise he refuses to respond to simple, straight questions and so I would assume the worst of him.

Finally he bitches that a dodgy bidder bid the item up £900 in ten seconds yet is happy to use that as a benchmark of market value.

Sketchy.

If it's been blasted then at least you know the seattube isn't rusted through!

Or it could be that the seat tube is now wafer thin and that fresh paint is in fact structural.

Re:

Seller has no posted 'SOLD' on the eBay listing. Reckon he's a motor trader using similar tactics to shift this
