Re:

The sellers reason for relisting is in the listing accompanied by a picture of the message from the winning bidder detailing his reason for not going ahead.

If the non-paying winning bidder bid it up surely it's only fair to restart the bidding, not add a buy it now above the end price?!

Re:

Intially I thought why didn't he use the second chance offer to the second highest bidder who was shown at £1,449.00 but then realised if the winning bidder and their bids were removed then the highest it would have reached was £650.

So I think the bin addition is the seller believing it's worth that amount despite no buyer coming through and no other bidder going higher than £650.

If I wanted a resprayed frame then this has been done well, the sellers refusal to say respray or original is probably not helping it's sale.

If as I believe it is, a respray then it may help the sale if the painter is known as it might just be a well known name.

Lets be honest, the market for retro bike stuff is quite small and history is everything on this amount of spend.

Maybe to avoid the very same thing happening again, some people treat the bidding process as a game without consequences, bidding the price up with no intention of buying - it happens frequently.

Maybe the Winning Bidder and the Seller are the same person i.e. two EBay accounts.. Not so hard to set up.. How else it could it be so convenient for the Seller to relist with such "proof" etc. when no one outbids (effectively) his Reserve..

Nothing against a respray but he should come clean when asked multiple times directly for confirmation. Wouldn't mind seeing it happen again.

Re:

Wow, a lot of bidders with 100% bid history with that seller sparks my concern. Looks like the item was shill-bidded up to that price to suggest that it's an acceptable value and then had the BIN added accordingly. Not worth half that, respray or not.

Maybe I am overly suspicious but the sellers user name is Fasttrax2012, the 'buyer' is called 2012*John

If it was genuinely NOS, unbuilt and as new then the seller would make far more of that but he doesn't. He uses estate agent honesty language such as 'I have never built it up' and describes it a 'new other'. It's a used, resprayed frame, as indicated by the media blasted bottom bracket threads that new bikes never have - it's nicely sprayed (if a bit heavily sprayed and over lacquered for a Fat Chance), but used.

Re:

Agree with the above. Shill bids to see what the max value is then relist near to that price. Poor show IMO and a practice that spoils the fun and puts me off.
