XT FC-M730 on a Retro Tourer - someone must have done it here!

For future reference the Ritchey cranks are perfect for this application - they are pretty, 110 BCD and the granny ring attaches with spacers so you can keep the already low Q factor down.

For a 730 with a 122.5mm axle in a 68mm bb shell Q factor is 150mm . On velobase it gives 117.5 and 122.5 as the axle lengths I was assuming that was to account for 68mm and 73mm shells but am in reality , ignorant . Hope it helps.

Thanks a lot !

That's something to get my grey matter working and do some measurements !

No worries . I forgot to get the chainline as I was pushed for time . (the guy with the bike is a bass player and so was 5 hours late} .

I did it back in the early 90's using 735 mechs, MT60 triple and a UN73 113 bb on my Frank Herety.

The Spa XD2 cranks work well, are insanely cheap and have a pretty narrow Q factor.
One or 2 reports in another thread on here recently suggesting Spa cranks may have quality issues. I'm not going to diss spa as a shop, but some of their own-label budget gear may be questionable
