I'm not sure. This one has polished forks though and a matt frame... Anyone out there have some matt Trimnel fork legs that they want to swap for some shiny ones?!

I wouldn't fancy your chances mate! Those forks are super rare. you could always have them bead blasted if it bothers you?

Well I wouldn't say that it bothers me, but it would be nice to get rid of the surface scratches and get them finished so that they match the frame a little more closely... Is it worth getting them bead blasted do you think?

Hey

Nice find, I saw this on Gumtree also. I have had a set of the Trimnel forks on my (now sold) Kona Heihei since the mid 90s and have never had any bother with them. This is the first I have heard about any cracking. The only thing that worries me about them is the 8 x small grub screws used to affix the stems to the top of the fork legs - i would suggest more substantial fixings or at least bonding the stems to the legs.

The forks are very cool and I am now going to use mine on my own special build - thread to appear soon!

All forks were polished as far as I know, you could always take a brillo pad to them!!! (not advisable!).

I also had Crossmax on my Hei Hei with these forks and personally I thought it looked awesome.

Yeah, I saw your forks when I did a forum search... Very 8) indeed..!

I cant wait to get it now! Lots of build ideas but not lots of money! Luckily its already built so at least I'll be able to ride it "as is" while I save for the bits I want :)

Quality bike BBB,

Was looking for one for ages and had full blue xlite kit to go on it.

Had blue hope hubbed wheels and middleburn cranks with blue rings too but sadly no Ti pro to put it on :(

Was going to go with a mostly but sensible British build.

I had the Raleigh version and can confirm they are great off road.

Well done on the purchase, I'm looking forward to see what you do with it :D

Thanks Chris :)

Does this mean you're unofficially now first in line, should I decide to part with it? ;)

Seriously nice/cool bike you have there.

Love the forks. I'd be very interested to know how you find them to ride once you get a chance.

I think for the build, if you are not going for period correctness, XTR grey, (M952/3) would look great, grey tires and saddle, cables. I think if colour is being used that it should be done very sparingly. Too much might take something away from a very classy build.

Obviously your build though, but you did ask for opinions.

Good score though man, really like it. I'll look out for updates.

Thanks Ally,

Yes, I think they key with the build is to be subtle with the colours! Need to add a little bit of colour, but not so much that it overdoes things..

Bottle Cage Bolts and possibly brake mount bolts to tie in with whichever colour hubs I put on it, and I think that'll be about right :)
