Work bikes

1986 or 1987? Jamis Durango.
This was my first MTB. It was Jamis' entry level MTB at the time.
I am the original owner. I purchased this bike from a local shop in June 1987.
I have used it on and off over the year as a commuter bike.
It's seen a lot of miles during the lockdown!

Here is the bike I currently use to commute, I am fortunate that my route to work is pretty comfy, only one road which has a dedicated bike lane, after that it's riverside path, some gravel track which takes me round the weir and finally a tree lined footpath that takes me over the river Nene and the canal. Best part of my working day to be honest, I leave earlier than I need so I can take it slow and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.

Found this some weeks ago. Previous owner was an 80 year old man that bought it new in 1990. All original, but the backtire couldn´t be saved though. Was a living hell to adjust the front DX gear since the bike has been stored unused in over 25 years. The man said he bought it in 1990 and only used it a few years and it has been stored since then. Service, wash and lots of oil...... Used daily to work now.

The Roberts is my wifes and is likely to be rebuilt more conventionally/sympathetically in the near future . It ended up as hers like this to keep it out of the ''bike count'' . Also she didn't like riding ''that pink thing'' which is now mine . P1050434.JPG P1050435.JPG

My '89 DB Ascent has been catalogue spec'd and is awaiting sale, so my new commuter is this '91 RM Hammer, and what a lovely ride it is, it too will eventually get the treatment but for now I'm just enjoying it, such a nice ride and it loves the slicks P7263611.JPG .
