Winter again ?

Is anyone like me here, getting fed up with the constant headless chicken mentality on the news about the bloody snow ?

I mean, it's winter, it's cold and with winter one can expect snow. Yeah, people come unstuck in the snow, vehicles brake down, get stuck or run into things, but we are obsessed with vehicles in this country, they matter more than humans it seems, and that indicated by the fact that roads are gritted but not pedestrian walk ways.

Oh shit, so the planes are grounded, does it really matter, people are stuck they can't go on holiday in the winter, hey, aren't we forgetting something here, winter is what it is, we do not yet have total control of this planet, so why do we think it should bow down to own needs all the time.

But perhaps that is it, we believe we have progressed so far, with our machines and technologies, that we just forget, or just have been brought up to think we control the world, not it us.

My family out in Sweden always love this time of year, as when they are at minus twenty with snow upto the roof and Elg bimbling about and functioning as normal, some in ancient little wooden sheds in the woods, the stugas and torps, they look at poor old britain running around as if the world was caving in.

One of the family lives right up in the arctic circle and farms reindeer, the creatures provide everything, transport, food, clothing and even heating, as the reindeer live downstairs, their heat rises to keep the upstairs toasty.

But does anyone else think Britain's news services tends to overdo it when we experience what winter really is ? But despite the headless chicken mentality of the media, is life going on as normal in the country or not ?

I am just watching the tv, looking at aircraft failing to be cleared of ice with de icer, well, they got that wrong, as the best preventative of ice, is cow and horse shit, not chemicals. Up in Novia Scotia when the Hercules were there, spading on animal crap was order of the day to stop ice forming on the aeroform surfaces. But perhaps another indication of how far we are going wrong, the reliance on chemicals, not the old methods that work.

Nah.
My daughter was due to sing in the local church yesterday- a picture postcard pretty little Norman effort; indeed you can buy Christmas cards of it in the snow (probably taken in February  ).
I was quite looking forward to strolling through the drifts, belting me lungs out, then retiring to the adjoining hostelry to relax and revive my vocal chords. :D
The Carol Service was cancelled, due to the snow...
