Will i get stiffed by customs for brakes from the states ?

I've never had to pay import tax for anything marked 'bicycle parts' not even two brand new Turbo saddles which was odd, I thought

But if you can get the seller to mark them as a sample or a gift you will not have to pay for sure

But when I imported a Les Paul it was held I got a card from the postie and had to go to an obscure parcel depot and hand over some dosh

So don't worry just wait for the card

It'll be intersting to see what the seller wrote on the customs declaration

ok update time

phoned parcelforce this morning as i got fed up of waiting for my notification letter to arrive and they said the brakes were being stored around the corner from me at the local depot, along with a nice £42 customs charge to add to the already expensive brakes.

oh well, you win some you lose some :?

Yeah, and it's worse when you get stuffed on an impulse buy...

I bought some Manitou IV's that the seller had listed with a really outrageous shipping charge; I e-mailed him first and pointed out I usually paid much less than that and he agreed it was too high so I paid the listed price in the belief he was going to make a partial refund to take into account the actual shipping charges?

Got my ParcelForce slip through y'day - no refund on the shipping so now I've had to fork out another £29.00 on top in Customs charges...

Indeed, some you win some aren't such a bargain after all... :?
