I've put one of their wheels on my shopping bike, which is a bit of a sad use, mavic 121,alpina spokes, xlite nipples all in all a dh wheel. on the shopper

Anyway, at some point im sure im going to need to open it up and service it, or at least pump whatever oil into it it takes.
Hub in question is a rear , i think :? Sam DH oil filled. So no doubt any service or opening will involve gloves and kitchen-towels

Anyone know what the internals are like ?, and any service or use info. ie what is its running schedule about pumping oil(grease?) into it.
Maybe a manual of some sort

Only info i can find

Re:

Amazing quality hubs. I have a nos front 32 h red white and blue one going cheap. These are better made than Bullseyes

Re:

Stick a picture up, especially of the oil hole (just light oil, it for the freehub normally)
And a few of the freehub fitting.

I have a few SAM hubs, they're nice. Mine are more road, but used for MTB.

I've taken mine apart etc..

It you need a syringe to add oil it’s going to interesting

Like Fluffy has put - post a pic will be interesting to see

I have the 130 speedline and the XC above it also

(They're the same, just one is 130 the other is 135 axle) mine are even the same colour.

If you have the universal fitted freehub like I do, you'll need a 'castle' specific freehub remover.
I have one somewhere you can either copy or borrow.

Other than that, they pull apart much like a hub just with an odd freehub blob.

Of course they may.have a push fit fitting
(The cut away one in the link here I think uses the castle tool to remove, you can just see the notches)

Good job it’s the front as the rears have very poor reviews

Wowzers....never realised the product was this poorly made :facepal. No wonder they closed shop. Still a very nice looking front hub similar to Bullseye patriot colourway. Hoping to get back what I paid £40 or trade for it.

Lovely hubs, i have a front, the nitride middle one. It has been on various bikes since i got it back in the mid nineties, still spins longer and smoother than any other hub i have come across.

My friend who i have started riding with again has a set on his old Marin. He bought them after listening to me going on about mine back in the day. He has never had to do anything to them and they are still spinning smooth and long. They are the xc non disc version not the dh but he probably has manuals for them so will ask him next time i see him.

Lots of good info there thanks :D

Usual reviews though which on mtbr are always hit and miss with a few people having problems with just about everything. 50 good reviews on any given item and one guy says its sh***. We never really now what they're doing with them to break them, but I think its relative and if its been going this long, then maybe the bad reviews were just luck and maybe not slam into rocks at 30mph. Axles are solid bits of kit and to break one, well you aren't going to be riding to the shops and back now are you.

Piccy

Have to say though  the internal views of the split and machined hub look tricky to say the least. Bearings are easy, axle as long as ok is easy, but its the freehub and tis one appears to be specific to goldtec though it takes shimano no probs.

There was a disc adaptor on ebay last year. Touted as Hope so i took a look and guessed it wasnt. Sat for sale for quite a number of relists.
Then Im fitting a rotor to the wheel and finding it isnt fitting. A bit of research shows the adaptor was a goldtec adaptor for this hub  Had to modify it slightly with the dremel. Bloody typical, and likely an incredibly rare bit to find should you know what it was you were looking for.
