who knows about Orange colours

Dirt Disciple
hi, ive read through a few threads an there seams to be a lot of knowledge in this site :)
ive just acquired a P7 an from hear I know its march 94. (A4032.....)
The previous owner has had it from nearly new, he said the original owner had the bike painted by Orange when new. looking at online photos all the stickers look correct and the paint certainly looks factory (inside the bb shell head tube have paint in them to).
I believe Orange would offer `custom` colours I just wondered if this was tru? My original plans where to paint it like a clockwork until I realised the p7 was higher in the range.
Just curious.
looking forward to adding it to my collection :)

hehe :) I was waiting for that, my plan worked lol.
yes I have had help it would seam I have a c16r not a P7 :)

Re:

yeah quite often you could choose the colours you wanted even back then if you were ordering the bike as opposed to buying what the shop had in stock, i do recall this purple colour being used on the P7 and the aluminium O and maybe the Elite.

what's your reasoning for it being a C16 though? i can't see stickers for either, but if it's a 94 then i don't think they made a C16? i thought it was still a clockwork at that point, i maybe wrong though.

i'd say if the paint is good then leave it alone, if not pick a classic Orange paint job, the orange white fade is always nice (TJC designs in Bristol do the best version of this)

:)

my first plan was orange and white :). It may be a clockwork then if c16 wasn't made? I believe the round bottle bosses and the mounts on the seatstay for panniers etc rules it out as a P7. My head tube sticker is P7
After a polish the colour is good so its staying :)
A google image search of orange c16 shows a c16 in that colour to :)
I like this its interesting finding out this info :)
but how do you make a photo small enough to be you profile pic????!!!!

Re:

i have a 2 P7's, a 94 and a 95, both have rack mounts and canti hangers on the back

i always thought that the c16 came out in 1995/6, we do have archives of some of the catalogues here though so check the archive section on the wiki part of the site. it may not show all of the colour options but should tell you the various differences in tubing etc.

regarding the profile photo, i just got a normal pic, resized it down in photoshop then added it in my profile on the controls page, should tell you the size it needs to be there.

ooo so the jury is still out.
Diamond shaped bottle bosses tho?? is that the clue??
I was gonna ask about if there was any catalogues on hear, I will have a look.
I tried resizing in paint without much success, il try again.
I know stickers don't mean much but hear are mine

Re:

It was the P7s first year and it's not a clockwork just from the one feature that makes it easy in 93/94 range, the stay canti hanger. It is the prestige/p7 one.
Given it is a 1994 and it has rackmounts and looks a bit beefier then a prestige then it's a P7.
As far as I know the prestige didn't have the rack mounts as that year, when they where side by side, the prestige was a competition targeted frame. The P7 a heavier burlier frame.
C16 series didn't come till 1995 but also used the clockwork style canti hanger.
