Which level of Campag is this then?

Not a Campag man myself so despite a little research I can't work out what series this chain-set is from.

Help please.....

Judging by the surface finishing coat, I'd guess that it is Athena which, in this version, was made from around '88 until '92 or '93. Athena was ranked third in the Campag hierarchy at the time - below Record and Chorus. Still not one of Shaun's real experts but I have a complete '88 Chorus group and the finish is distinctly different.

That looks like a painted (rather than polished) finish - that makes it Veloce I think. certainly looks very similar to the 94 veloce group (going by the catalogue pics). Athena and everything above it (CdA, chorus and record) always had a polished finished as far as I know

I guess we are getting there, but no certainty yet! Here's a pic of the back. I can't really tell if it is painted or not.

Cheers!

As foz says, Athena and above always had a polished finish, and those cranks are painted. The spider arms are too fine to be Xenon.

They're Veloce or Stratos, circa 1994, but I'm not sure which.

Machined chainrings (not stamped like Veloce) - but they may of course be replacements.
Veloce, and even Stratos, used machined, engraved rings in those days. They look original to me:

"As with the higher range groups, the sprockets, in superior aluminium alloys, have teeth which are machined individually on special CNC machines."

[edit: Uh ... actually the inner ring's a Stronglight!

But the outer looks original.]
