Where does Shimano Exage 500LX fit into the pecking order?

I just bought a Raleigh Technium Chill which has among other things Shimano Exage 500LX cranks, rear mech and front mech. I'm told the bike is 1990, so are the parts contemporary? What sort of quality are they? Better/worse than say DX?

The hubs appear unmarked - could they still be DX or 500LX - they look reasonable quality?

Available from 1990 - 92. It was below Deore LX, so lower quality than DX:
