When did skin/amberwall tyres stop?

When did skin/amberwall tyres stop?

I have a pair of skinwall Smoke/Dart and a pair of Psychos that I am thinking of putting on my RTS and Karakoram.

However my RTS is 1996, and IIRC is was originally spec'd with blackwall Velociraptors. Would it look odd, be wrong etc to put skinwall Smoke/Dart on?

i had skinwalls in 1997, and 1998 still spec on my Klein Model, but my 1994 kona was specced with blackwalls

I remember racing with amber/skinwall right up to 1996 and not seeing any blackwalls.

however,a little of topic,the xc racers are now sporting ambers so maybe theyer coming back? hope so

Just a reference to the colour. However, surely its chaper to produce all black?

And easier i would have thought. I think black side wall look better on some bikes. And skin wall better on some other bikes.

i last had some in about 1996, i think they were panaracer magic xc in white..
