Wheel Building Woes - PLEASE HELP

A bike shop that can't build wheels in Oldham..... Think I know who it may be!

Ideal time to learn how to build wheels.. Or plenty of guys on here that can turn em round in no time at all!

He is not a bike mechanic nor can he build wheels, I am guessing he cleans the workshop and pumps up tyres, have you asked the shop manager if you can speak to the actual mechanic?

On the other hand, if he is the mechanic you should name and shame, there are too many cowboys geting paid by people that deserve better while other people interested in doing that job are working in tedious mundane locations.

He should have been able to calculate spoke length by measuring the components, and three weeks is plenty of time to obtain any size not in stock!

Three weeks is plenty of time to train a few mechanics in wheel building and with time to get some hands on!

I had something similar recently, when I took some old Pulstar hubs to a couple of bike shops around Kingston. First place took the hubs, said no problem, then called me a week later to tell me they couldn't get the spokes.

Second place wouldn't touch them as they said they couldn't work out the correct lengths using a spoke calculator and didn't want to order in loads of different lengths on a trial and error basis, then get left with loads of spokes they couldn't use.
